THE MEMBERS SHOW '21
The Members Show is an annual juried exhibition for those with membership to the Pensacola Museum of Art (PMA). The 1st place winner is offered a small solo exhibition at the PMA the following year, so it is an event that both invests in and expands the museum community.
This project gave me extensive experience with the potential hurdles that come with client work, especially with the limited remote communication of the pandemic. Two rounds of pitches were presented from multiple designers in the TAG Team Internship, but the process continued as the clients came to desire a previously absent inspiration: the architecture of surrounding downtown Pensacola. While developing this idea two rounds further seemed fruitful, the clientele ultimately decided to return and develop one of my own previous pitches from the first round.
This identity adopted the idea of flat, abstract patterns that were developed in the midway process, applying them to both abstract and human shapes. The color scheme reinforced a balance between professional and playful, the muted gold delivering a feeling of prestige as well. I designed a general style guide, logotype, postcards, banners, and once pandemic restrictions lifted, installed large-scale vinyl prints.
